“We’re having a winter wedding and there’s no other option than having you as our photographer!”
I like that kind of confidence and determination. So Manou, Andries and I met in Antwerp for pizza and talked about their plans all night. My favorite part of our conversation was when they revealed their masterplan. They wanted to go snowboarding in their wedding outfits. “So, you know, we need a talented wedding photographer who also knows how to snowboard! And that makes you the perfect fit.”
Needless to say: my excitement went through the roof.
Manou and Andries have a mutual passion for the mountains. There’s nothing that makes them feel more alive than hitting the slopes together on their skis/snowboard while breathing in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the sound of crunching snow beneath their feet. So it made total sense to implement this in their wedding day.
We had the absolute best time during their winter wedding weekend. On Saturday they had an emotional first look in a snowy landscape, after which they joined their closest friends and family for an intimate ceremony at the local Heimat Museum. We had Schnitzel for dinner and ended the night with traditional Schuhplattler. And on Sunday, we went snowboarding! How’s that for a hangover activity?!
Manou and Andries wanted their snowboard wedding to be a fun, relaxed and unforgettable experience. And looking back I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!
