During my first years as a photographer, I spent way too much time trying to figure out everything myself. My workflow was inefficient, my website was crap, my editing was inconsistent and looking back on my pricing makes me want to slap myself in the face. With a chair.
I’ve learned many lessons since I started working as a full-time photographer 7 years ago. And I'd love to share these with you, so you don't have to cringe as hard as I do when I think about all the time and money I've wasted.

Firgen
Location: The belgian ardennes
Firgen is a community for photographers based on the idea of genuine, unselfish delight or pride in the accomplishment of another person.
After a completely sold out first edition in 2020, an even more successfull online edition in 2021 ànd a double edition in 2022 & 2023, Elke and I decided a fifth edition was the most obvious thing to do.
Ik vertrok naar Firgen met een hoofd vol twijfels en een serieus geval van “imposter syndrome”. Ik kwam terug met de zekerheid dat ik van fotografie mijn hoofdberoep wil maken. Dat alleen al!
Ik heb zo extreem veel geleerd uit de intense groepsgesprekken, uit het schaamteloos babbelen en lachen over onze fuck-ups (want ie-de-reen gaat een keer de mist in!), en uit de oprechte feedback van iedereen in de groep. Deze drie dagen in de Ardennen hebben er niet alleen voor gezorgd dat ik een veel duidelijker beeld heb van waar ik naartoe wil, ik ben ook naar huis gegaan met kei veel goesting en een hoop concrete stappen om mijn zaak te doen groeien.
