About Kaat
If I'm thirdwheeling you on one of the most important days of your lives, you'd probably like to know who I am and why I do what I do.
Romantic by accident
Lover of train travel, negronis and the smell of petrichor.
A sucker for dramatic rays of sunlight and the sound of fresh snow under my feet.
Trying to save the planet one dissapointing vegan menu option at a time.
Forever fascinated by photogenic cloud formations.
But also…
World's only person eating a kiwi with its skin.
Destroyer of eardrums whenever Céline Dion is on.
2x marathon finisher after some surgeon tried to tell me I'd never properly walk again.
A person of opposites
Spends one weekend in a techno club in Berlin — to spend the next one off-grid camping. Thrives in the mountains — lives in a country that has none. Claimed she never ever wanted to become a wedding photographer… celebrating +10 happy years of having a successful elopement and wedding photography business.
Some people never
go crazy. What truly
horrible
lives they must live. —

Adventurous yes-woman
I'm Kaat (she/her). In English my name is pronounced as 'cat' (meow), but with an extra long a. My parents didn't really think that one through, did they? Since getting my bachelor's degree in Photography in 2014, I've been trying to find a way to merge my passion for the great outdoors with my career as a dedicated photographer. I quickly realized that those two things didn't have to exist independently, so for the past decade I've been wandering from New-Zealand to Hawaii and from Chile all the way to Sri Lanka.

To travel is to live
I've been lucky enough to travel to every continent except Antarctica (still waiting on that penguin wedding inquiry). Travel is a huge part of my life and work. If your plans line up with my travel schedule, no travel fees apply. So you can meet me wherever I already am, or we can find somewhere nearby that feels just as magical. Make sure to check out my upcoming locations, you might just find the perfect spot for your adventure too!
And for those of you worrying about my ecological footprint: I prefer traveling over land and offset all of my travels at the end of the year with Greentripper.
Carpe DM manifesto:
10 rules to live by
1.
If it makes you happy, it doesn't have to make sense to others.
2.
Always take the scenic route.
3.
Love is love — all love is welcome here.
4.
Tradition is optional. Meaning is essential.
5.
Present over perfect, experiences over things.

7.
Not everything
needs a hashtag.

Photos are the most important thing. (Apart from the people in them.)

don't be racist.
